The Philippine American Chamber of Commerce – Greater San Antonio (PACC-GSA) is proud to congratulate Dr. Maria Danet Lapiz-Bluhm on her induction into the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame—an honor that recognizes her unwavering commitment to service, education, and community leadership.
The San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame’s mission is to provide educational scholarships for deserving local women, promote education and individual development, and honor outstanding women for their service and contributions. Dr. Bluhm’s journey is a shining example of these values in action.
As Professor and Director of International Programs at the UTHSC School of Nursing, Dr. Bluhm’s impact extends far beyond the classroom. Originally from the Philippines, she is a registered nurse with advanced degrees in Neuroscience and Clinical Investigation. Her passion for improving health outcomes among diverse, vulnerable populations is reflected in her leadership of free diabetes, cardiovascular, and cancer screenings for over 10,000 people in our community.
Dr. Bluhm’s leadership spans local, national, and international arenas. She has served in key roles within the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce, the Philippine Nurses Association of San Antonio, and the Asian Alamo Alliance. As President-Elect of the Texas Nurses Association District 8 and an Air Force Air Education Training Commander Civic Leader, she continues to inspire and uplift others.
Her achievements include founding the Filipino American Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Network and the Center for Filipino American Health, as well as launching the Virtual Global Health Hub and introducing patient safety strategies in multiple countries. Dr. Bluhm is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the Academy of Nursing Education, an award-winning educator, and a published author.
